This book has the most plots, subplots and characters that I ever read. Let me try to get this with a help from Uncle Wiki.
One guy was suing a university because the university sold his cell to biotechnology company after he received treatment for cancer from the university. In the end he lost because his blood counted as waste. However this will become bigger issue later on.
Another guy got into trouble when he tried to sabotage the biotech company. His lawyer came out with a defence that claims his innocence due to his reckless gene.
The biotech company tried to get the first guy’s cell because they say they have they right because technically, they own it. The first guy run into hiding, unfortunately the company chase his family.
Other guy made a research on putting human cell to a chimpanzee’s and he succeeded. However he had to bring the chimp when his former company decided to kill the talking chimpanzee.
There is also a talking parrot that able to solve simple mathematics equation that lives with a family. However one day the parrot got into trouble due to his capability and cheekiness.
And there are a lot more story than these. I’m not kidding around, there are cursing orang utan, a study to mature and cure people from drug addiction, human body part trading and many more.
I found the book really interesting because the author touch on biotechnology and what might happen or is happening in current world. However due to many characters and plots, I was easily confused and sidetracked or who’s whose and what’s happening. It’s just too many stories in one book. However the topic is truly interesting and most of the issues that are mentioned are real. This is also bringing a slight confusion to me on which a fiction and which is real.
Overall I give a good read because even though full of confusions, I enjoyed reading it and the topic is interesting.
