9 Nyawa Review

Ramlee Awang Murshid…hey..Ramlee Awang Murshid… okay enough chanting. The story was about Intan Suryani that had many times escape death because of accident, coma, heart attack and so on. That is why the title of the book 9 Nyawa like a cat. So she was living with her overprotective but very rich mother and some people want to get the money.

Other side of place, Singapore lived a blind guy named Hakim that worked in Hospital and he had special power. He could communicae to in between life and death person and that was how they both met.

As this is Ramlee’s story…there  a lot more than meets the eyes, mysteries, secrets, criminal, pirate cd, justice, injustice and so on.

When I reading it I was like wow, like The Eyes, Catwoman(no kidding), Ghost Whisperer, Sri Dewi Malam and many more meshed together but the author managed to make his own and what a nice story. (He did mention that he was actually taking drama concept 🙂 I’m not under delusion). Where was I? Yes, it was a good read. However I did predict the main bad guy but still there were still surprises. Never mind that, this normally happens.

So in conclusion is very good book and not boring. Very fast pace because author used ‘lonjakan’ and ‘hock’. The author described it, read it to understand. This book can be as one of the best of Ramlee Awang Murshid for me.

Natsume Yuujinchou and Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou review

Natsume Yuujinchou is anime series (13 episodes) about a secondary boy, Natsume that can see spirits and had a problem because of that but his gift/curse became dangerous when he his dead grandmother left him a book call ‘book of spirits’ where his grandmother listed all spirits’ name that she conquer inside the book. So Natsume decided to return the name to spirits but that sometime easy tasks. He had a assistance, powerful spirit that disguised as cat and called Nyanko-sensei. So cute…but big when real form.

Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou is the sequel and continuation of the Natsume stories. Here here met up with more people like him.

I totally like the story and sometime it can be pretty sad. It is more Natsume and Reiko (his dead grandmother) stories where both are them know they were different and pretty hard to find a best friend so Reiko befriend the spirits. Some really cute spirit…really cute including Nyanko-sensei and some really scary spirit. I like the anime didn’t go to battle theme story like the rest of popular anime and I like the artwork, very calming.

Days out with gurlfriends and Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, New Moon, Stormwarrior review

Pity you all only read boring review but there will be a few more scheduled. I did book review marathon :). However that was not only thing that I marathon, I together with Roha-chan, Wa and Cik Mah went out to shopping complex and watched 4 movies in 2 days. Not every time we can do this, Wa and Cik Mah are in different states so it’s hard to meet them. So we decided to go shopping and see movie at Midvalley and Alamanda.

My gurl friends...A slight incident with parking lot hehehehe

They managed to do some shopping and I wowed with the stock of novels. When the stock finished, come back to KL, we buy some more. ;p… on Sunday everyone went back home, T_T.

Sherlock Holmes

I lovee it because investigation/deduction story always special in my heart and I like Sherlock Holmes. I have the complete stories of Sherlock Holmes by Athur Conan Doyle. Managed to find cheap book. Where was I?

So this Sherlock Holmes by Robert Downer Jr.  is not exactly similar as the book because the movie more towards action including Sherlock Holmes himself. I could say that this movie showing exaggeration version of Sherlock Holmes to suit nowadays taste I think. However the director and writer didn’t really miss out detail from the book. Example: Sherlock really did experimenting and his room full of stuff, he was good at disguise (the movie point only a bit), he did know boxing and fencing but not focused in the book, Holmes did feel different about Jude Law, Dr. Watson leaving the house to wed Mary and so on. So they did not leave detail but they exaggerate it. The case was new one, not written in the book. The main mystery  and sub mysteries was a bit left out because they concentrate more on action. It is not so pure but I truly enjoyed it. If I want pure a Sherlock Holmes, I just have to re-read the book. 🙂

Avatar

The first thing I would say the graphic was crazy and I didn’t watch the 3D version. Then the story was also nice. However I felt like: welcome to Pandora world and have a taste of the world like being a tourist, showing the nice scenery and native culture but seriously there are some serious issue that they story brought out. (Compare high tech weapon and arrow with  high tech weapon and rock and stone in Palestine, don’t people see it?). Then there are issue of environment and the cost of wealth. What is right? What is wrong. Yup serious stuff but don’t worry, they make the storyline really nice. Some really..really sad scenes.

The story was about a disable ex-marine who ride an Avatar (blue body alien but mind was his) to find way to make Pandora natives to move from their home and sacred forest because human wanted the high value mineral that laid in the place. So the ex-marine able to be closed with the natives and learn their way and eventually causing dilemma and he needed to take side, the right side.

Rating: 4.6/5 ( I like Sherlock more because Sherlock is closer to me but Avatar is really an epic of his own.

New Moon

Twilight was okay but New Moon causing me asking where they wanna go with the story. It felt that they wanna make really epic stuff but it just fell flat. I also couldn’t stand why Bella so crazy when being left by Edward and became adrenaline junkie. Again I think that the story and dialogue a bit cheesy but this I already mentioned in Twilight review. It keep saying like I love you, I’ll love you forever, I can’t leave without you…oh come on, grow up!!

Even after I said all that, I  will watch the next sequel…Ican’t help it. Owh, it seem that I on Edward’s team but I also dunno why, he is not really that handsome and sometime the red lipstick was a bit too much.

Storm Warrior

I like the first one, I have no feeling for the second one. Full of only graphic but doesn’t really great, feel so cheap because every scenes maximum was like 10 person, I wanted to see great view, green, real tree what ever, not a zoomed set and what us with the close up. The actors were not so young anymore. Why everyone so suddenly already at location? Where was the story??

I was not 100% hate, there are some nice moments. You can watch it with out absolute loath but soo pity because they can do more or better but didn’t.

A Comprehensive Prayer Formula Review

This book written by Ustaz Zaharuddin about a guide for better prayer based on his studies of hadith and evidences by Shafi’i scholar or any scholar that he found benefitted.

This is a very good guide because sometime even we has been praying since child but maybe we made mistakes or we want to do better in doing our prayer so this book could help.

The book has explanation, picture, guide, arabic writing for prayer recitation and meaning, ‘zikr’, and notes about ‘khusyu’ in prayer and the books has coloured pictured. Muahahaha (very childish here).

A very good and beneficial book indeed.

The Innocent Man review

The author of the book is John Grisham who is one of my favourite author. Some of his book I really like and some I don’t. This book, I judged to quickly and I’ve been postponing to finish this book for so long. I can’t even recalled when I bought this, last year or this year?

The story was actually based in true story where 2 guys Ron and Dennis in small town of Ada were charged, tried and sentenced guilty by killing of Debra Sue Carter in 1982.So the story follow what really happen that get Ron and Dennis charged guilty by crime that they didn’t commit, sentenced to prison and then long appeal that in the end manage to set them free.

It was pretty sad when 2 innocent man and more charged guilty and sentenced to prison or death because of crappy police investigation, crappy defence lawyer and crappy prosecutor and crappy judge. Conclusion, system was s*** at that time or still also in Malaysia? I would say that the part at prison after their sentence was the saddest part.

So why did I took so long to finish it? because I felt like it was really like a factual story, even though it is a novel, it is full of fact so I’ve got bored but when I able to finish, I really pity the innocent guy that went to jail but for people who really did commit crime and put in jail and death sentenced, good for you.

Make Me a Match review

It is a chick flick/romance novel. Of course I read this kind of stuff. Okay it is typical chick flick with a pinch of twist. The story about main char who is surgeon doctor who engaged with one guy but suddenly her sister said that her soul mate name not a the person she engaged. Owh her sister was a gypsy/psychic who can name people’s soul mate.

Even though she intrigue, still wanna pursue the engagement but can’t brushed up the name because her sister said the name getting disappeared mean close to death. So she try to find the guy and he as usual handsome and had a cute daughter. You can guess the rest but I would say the story or the book is soooo cute. That the only thing that I can conclude. 🙂

Comic Fiesta 2009

Initially I’ve been thinking to password protected this post because I don’t want tarnish my image by then I act against it because I don’t really have an image to take care of and most reader of my blog are my friend so I made it open. whisper* If my colleagues found out about my blog, I’ll password it.

So I went to Comic Fiesta 2009 last week-end at Sunway Pyramid accompanied by my younger sis. wuuhuu. My first time because I normally missed it or busy. The parking was Craaazy so I parked really really far outside Sunway. If you don’t understand what is CF all about, no matter, I don’t want to explain,I assume you know.

The ticket to go in was RM15 per day (wei a bit expensive wei but no matter) and they gave above tag  but there were already people showed or sold manga/anime/game stuff and cospalyer lingered around outside the CF hall.

Then I entered into hall and my first impression was not bad, some exciting cosplayer but I and my sis kinda dunno what to do, kinda blur to ask for photograph so we just looking around and see what people sold and show at the Doujin’s booth (I’ll explained if people ask). Then I went out because we were hungry so we decided to eat Ayam Penyet Ria (Indonesian meal).

Ayam Penyet, rice, sup sayur asam, gado-gado, strawberry and gembira juice

The food was not bad. Is ayam penyet is ayam kampung?

After Duhr prayer, we went back and collect my bravery and crappy hp cam as my weapon, I charged!!

A group of cosplayer..don't ask me what char they were from.
Cute aren't they? Don't ask..
from Spirited Away
with Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist
not cosplay...Haruhi figurine..cuute...I don't want to say kyaaa~~
sorry blur.. 'friend' from 20's century boys. Seriously need to read the manga. Awesome stuff. Now looking with out 'usaha' the movies.
bleach
produced by Jarhead and he had booth at Doujin area and I saw his model/figurine, really awesome stuff

I was haunted…yup haunted by cute hats (put proper term here). I want one and everywhere I went, I saw one. However I didn’t buy one because it wasn’t that cheap especially the good and cute one. I managed to take picture with one.

If I'll go again, I'll hunt one. cute one

Then there was cosplay competition solo performance and let me say some were amateurish but some really managed to entertain audience. I didn’t buy a lot of stuff at Doujin booth, a comic magazine by Malaysian artist and key chain strap. Overall I did enjoy myself and it was a pleasant surprise but I dunno how my sis felt. Owh the MC were okay but sometime 18SX innuendo, don’t like.

p/s: I know which anime the two girls cosplay…from xxx-Holic. Now I know why they look familiar.

, we went back into hall and collect our bravery with crappy hand phone as our weapon, I charged.

OMG…Long list of movie

Hold your seat. This is very long list. Skip it if you like…but I like if you could read it… Tiring you know listing down the movies but of course I did it for me.

Departures(Okuribito)

It is a Japanese movie, which won Academy award. I totally understand why the movie won. The movie was about a main character that had to work for dead body preparation before burial (mortician Japanese style) . I have to say it able to show how beautiful and showing full respect to the body.

So main character had to get over of not a typical job, people perception and especially his wife consent.  It was a bit slow pace but so touching.

4.1/5

G.I. Joe

It was a good fantasy movie with a so-so storyline. I couldn’t say much about the movie because the movie was watch able but there was no wow factor. Even the destroying Eiffel Tower was unable to help the story.

G.I. Joe was a favorite cartoon of mine when I was a kid. There are some characters that I could recall but some didn’t.

3.9/5

Drag Me to Hell

It was a very weird horror movie that able to scare people but it was weird and sometimes yucky and the sole purpose of this movie was to scare and shock you. Don’t look for anything else.

Owh yeah story about this woman trying to get out from a gypsy curse.

3.9/5

Setem

I like the movie. It is from Kabir Bhatia. The movie was about a group of people wanted to cheat/steal an expensive stamp. So it became a chase between ex-convict team, loan shark team, small time con man team, illegal foreigner team, a nurse and blind brother team. So chaotic and exaggeration…. There is some moment that felt the script was a bit out-of-place but a good start for action/comedy Malay movie.

4.1/5

Fighting

Owh.. a B grade movie about a fight. Nothing wrong if watch it or didn’t watch it.

3.7/5

Overheard

A Hong Kong movie. The main reason I picked this was because I confused with other Louis Koo movie which been reviewed okay. This movie about a group of police (ICAC if not mistaken) doing a boring job which was listening to conversation of their suspect.

Suddenly one of them overheard insider information that could make them rich in stock market. So they secretly bought the share and no good happened afterwards. Sad..

3.8/5

Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen

The first one was better because it has element of surprise and transformer was also my childhood cartoon. This time around, no easy way out, the movie was so-so for me. It was big but when there was no good story line…there was no good story line. However the action still pretty big and the fight sequence was much clearer than the first one. I just don’t understand what Sam and Megan Fox were for.

4.0/5

Ponyo On The Cliff

An anime by Hayou Miyazaki. So as usual, anime by Hayou  Miyazaki always has soul. This times the story about a magical creature Ponyo but recognized as goldfish from sea went to see surface and met a little boy and fall in love. However due unable to control her power, she was causing a big sea flood.

The movie targeted more towards kids but grown up can still appreciate it. The story was sweet but not as brilliant as spirited away. I have to say that the art and drawing was brilliant and impressive. The animation is really an art itself.

Yani’s wedding, so short trip to Penang

I went to Butterworth Penang to see a colleague of mine getting married I went there for 2 days along with my other single but younger friends and stay at Ecotel hotel. Not bad, very simple but nice and affordable. Don’t expect a view there.

Akad nikah day..Yani was so relax... don't see any nervousness

Everything went smoothly and Yani and Fairuz(Apai) become wife and husband. Sorry no picture of the ‘akad nikah’. Aih my crappy hand phone photo.

That night, we the single ladies went to Pulau to eat and were looking for Padang Kota, near Fort Cornwallis and since I never driven to real town, I have vague memory and I had to call my 2 friends (Thanks Rina and Alwani, not a pure bred Penang but they are very expert okay) but we couldn’t found it. It was not my fault…They close the road for Cub Prix and I do not have any idea for other road, so we went to Gurney Drive and ate there. Soooo traffic jam.  The ‘Pasembor’ darn nice. It was hot as I like it. Char kuey  teow just so-so.

Oh forgot, we ride a ferry and I was surprise that the ride took only about 10 mins and there was no long Q on that day. So, awesome.

Not lying 🙂 , see ferry behind them
Windy...

The next day, we went to Yani&Apai wedding reception.

Bride and Groom arrival

Sweet couple owh and cute colour
Camwhoring with 'nasi minyak'

Congratulation to Yani and Apai. Long distance marriage could be pretty hard but I know many of my friends who are in similar case just doing fine. Wishing you happiness!!
